Rouxbe
Rouxbe connects professional chefs with home cooks by providing online instructional cooking videos. We worked with Rouxbe to define the brand, interaction and user experience for their online presence. We worked with the client to build the website, patented Flash player and e-learning platform from scratch.
Startups are faced with one challenge. Do a lot with very little. With limited resources and time, we were able to go from nothing more than an idea on the back of a napkin to executing a full-fledged e-learning platform complete with rich, interactive cooking videos that helped the end-user learn to cook effectively.
We relied on guerilla-style user research, peering over people's shoulders to watch how they used the site, improving the experience incrementally, and releasing updates early and often. Having a robust user persona to rely on meant that every business decision could be validated for value to the end-user, and hence the project.
The website has been awarded the coveted Adobe Site of the Day award. Rouxbe continues to win high praise from top-websites such as Lifehacker, for it’s ease-of-use, deep focus on the cooking experience and clean design. IBM Creative Director, and User Experience expert, Cristene Gonzalez-Wertz uses Rouxbe as an example of design elegance in her examples of online success. She quoted Rouxbe as “Fabulously smart, elegant”.
